Earlier this year, Dr. Siscoe (Vice President for Student Affairs) and Dr. Brown (Associate Dean of the College of Education) created a plan to create better collaboration between the Division of Student Affairs and the Student Affairs in Higher Education (SAHE) Master’s Program. This plan includes the implementation of a SAHE Liaison. This liaison is our very own….. Tara Benson! Tara, who serves as the Associate Director of Plaster Student Union and Director of Student Engagement, will work to bridge the gap between SAHE and the division. This bridge-building includes fostering a community of collaboration, working alongside the SAHE faculty, creating a vision for student success, and serving as a student role model. Tara had this to say about her new position “I am very excited about my new role of SAHE liaison for the division. This type of role has been an interest of mine for some years and I am happy to see it come to life. I look forward to helping bridge the gap between the academic learning that occurs in the classroom and the practitioner learning that occurs in a practicum or assistantship experience. I think this dynamic partnership will not only grow the academic program but also grow our assistantship offerings. This collaborative approach is a win win for everyone involved. Thank you for supporting this initiative and joining in this new journey!” Questions about the SAHE liaison role can be sent to Tara at TBenson@MissouriState.edu or the SAHE Graduate Assistant, Jami Garner, at Jami88@live.missouristate.edu
