We are excited to announce that the office of Student Orientation, Advisement and Registration has changed its name to New Student and Family Programs.
This change reflects the office’s evolving role in helping new students and family members successfully transition into the Missouri State University community, and it is inclusive of programs offered beyond SOAR. The names of programs offered—including SOAR—will remain the same. The Parent and Family Programs equip family members to become strong support systems for their college students, and our Family Association boasts over 3,000 members and successful annual events like Family Weekend. Staff members are also involved in the development of orientation programs for transfer students in both traditional and online modalities and in the creation of a new spirit, traditions, and engagement camp for new students which aims to help them forge strong bonds to Missouri State University. Lastly, with the addition of a Parent and Family Coordinator to the office staff, a more encompassing name was needed. Students and staff were involved in the decision-making process. Please direct any questions regarding the name change to Joe Morris, Director of New Student and Family Programs, at (417) 836-7641.
