Recently, 7 Missouri State students attended the 38th Annual Big XII Conference on Black Student Government at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. These students represented Missouri State as representatives of the Association of Black Collegians. The purpose of the conference is to motivate student-leaders to strive and continue the work of reconstructing an even better future for the Black community than did forefathers themselves, starting within their respective campuses and local communities. Overall, the conference seeks to re-awake the same drive and determination within students to mirror that of the most influential and historical Black leaders in order to create positive, sustainable change. This annual Conference rotates among the Big XII schools; this conference features nationally renowned speakers, educational workshops, career fair and social/cultural events.
Participants “had a tremendous time and grew as leaders, students, future career men and women, and overall individuals. We assure you that our attendance helped us grow into a new understanding of Missouri State’s public affairs mission.” – The Association of Black Collegians
