The Study Away Mexico Pilot was developed to provide 12 Missouri State University Student Affairs in Higher Education graduate students the opportunity to visit the Universidad Autonma campus in Guadalajara and to interact with faculty and staff from the main UAG university campus. The pilot was a tremendous success with the students getting a better understanding of the Higher Education system in Mexico as well as new-found self awareness and appreciation of the local heritage and culture. The participants were able to participate in a Spanish course and exchange thoughts and ideas with a faculty member from the UAG main campus. The students were immersed in the culture by visiting several historic sites, including the UAG main campus, downtown Guadalajara, Zapopan, the University of Guadalarja campus, the Government Palace, the Office for Innovation, Science, and Technology and sister city of Tlaquepague.
