Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. was found Jan. 9th 1914 at Howard University in Washington DC. The Founders, Honorable A. Langston Taylor, Honorable Leonard F. Morse, and Honorable Charles I. Brown, wanted to organize a Greek letter fraternity that would truly exemplify the ideals of brotherhood, scholarship, and service, the three principles of the fraternity. The Rho Chi chapter was founded at Missouri State University Nov. 22nd 1989 by 5 men Rolando Greene, Chris Clay, Curtis Jones, Lee Campbell, and Shandol Moss. Since then the Rho Chi chapter has excelled in community service in the Springfield area. Each year the chapter hosts Sigma Week, typically hosted during the week the chapter was founded. Sigma Week is a way for the chapter to give back to Missouri State by hosting an event everyday for that week.
