Habitat for Humanity is known for building houses for people in need. What most people do not know is that four pillars create Habitat for Humanity; they are Build, Fundraise, Educate, and Advocate. Although we spend a significant amount of time building, we also spend a lot of time fundraising, teaching the public about poverty and homelessness, and advocating for those in need. Last semester we were able to participate in several touch-up projects for residents in Springfield. We also had the opportunity to collaborate with Drury’s Habitat for Humanity in order to hold a poker tournament! This next semester we have several fundraisers planned including our third annual Light the Night 5K, and we will be participating in Act, Speak, Build Week, a week that focuses on educating the community and advocating for those without homes.
