MSU Philosophy Club’s mission is to encourage and promote philosophical discourse and critical thinking. We get together and discuss pertinent topics and issues from a philosophical and/or ethical point of view. In addition to this, we host movie and TV show viewing nights where we talk about the philosophical themes in popular films and TV shows, such as God’s Not Dead and House of Cards, among others. Not all of us are philosophy majors, and that is okay as everyone can critically evaluate and participate in these discussions, and we are open to all viewpoints. We also exist as an organization to help current philosophy majors find professional success once they graduate. One way that we do this is by inviting speakers who have found workplace success with philosophy degrees to come and share their stories with us, such as Matt Marinec, an MSU philosophy alum who currently works as the Confidential Assistant to the Director of the U.S. Office of Government Ethics. We want to show that philosophy is very much alive and relevant today. We have meetings every Wednesday at 7pm in Strong 205. Also, we have a Facebook page where one can learn more about who we are as an organization: https://www.facebook.com/msuphilosophyclub
