Curious about the Royal Haskoning project in Yangon decided to read up and here is a summary of what I found.
Royal Haskin appears to have two primary goals in Myanmar. The company was contracted by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs to complete “a Feasibility Study on the improvements of the navigability of the Ayeyarwady River”. The Ayeyarwady River is centrally located and is the lifeline of trade inside Myanmar. The study includes an assessment of current systems in place and looks at possible improvements with consideration to technical and economic factors. The company has also been awarded several River Terminal contracts. These terminals will enable manufactures to transfer goods up and down the river with ease. The company has run into challenges with working inside Myanmar, but is hopeful after the election in this year that operation will normalize
