As one of the three pillars of the university, we as students are suppose to strive to be global citizens. The words by themselves make sense. As we all can agree, this study tour highlights even more the importance of being a global citizen. In one of the agreements we signed online when applying for this study tour was the dos and don’ts in a different country. If you have forgotten them, I’m sure you can still check it up online. In my opinion the most important thing to remember is to be respectful and keep an open mind.
There may be times where we are thrown completely out of our comfort zone/bubble either due to unfamiliar customs, food, or situations, but it’s important to remember to be respectful. You don’t have to be crazy about eating everything unique in sight but at least try each dish. If you don’t like it, you don’t have to finish it (unless of course you are allergic).
Another important thing is to maintain a positive attitude. Hiccups happen along a trip, or maybe you won’t get along with one of the group members. However, remember, it’s a two weeks long trip so keep up the positive energy.
Keep an open and respectful mind and positive attitude. With this in mind, I guarantee we will have an amazing trip 🙂
