The beeping sounds of motor carts are prominent amongst the city streets as a sea of cars and carts intertwine in an endless stream of traffic. The way people drive is one of the most fascinating things about the city so far. I made particular notice as we were traveling to Saigon tech university.
We arrived at the university to see the students, all in uniforms, playing volleyball in the court yard. Being big sports fans, our group naturally interjected and were warmly accepted by the students and faculty. After an hour of playful sport, our group moved upstairs to give a presentation of our university as well as to play interactive games with some of the students. Following this, we toured the school. I was amazed at how similar some of the content these students were learning was to mine. It shows that knowledge is truly universal.
In the afternoon, we ate a fantastic Buffet where I was able to try many foods that I had never previously eaten. I greatly enjoyed the challenge and had a delicious victory. We proceeded to a giant market from there where I bought a knock off jersey. I was shocked at both the sheer size of the indoor market as well as the tactics sellers used to push there questionable products.
In the eventing, we enjoyed a fantastic game of futsol with some of the students we met earlier in the day. The game was a lot of fun and it was good to get active after traveling so much the last few days. My feet are incredibly raw from playing barefoot on the turf, but it’s a bittersweet pain. Tonight, we plan on eating at a favorite spot of one of the students then hitting the town with him. I cannot wait!
Looking forward to the next few days!
