After we talked about Vietnamese food in class, I was very interested in looking more into the types of food that are offered.
- Pho – This consists of a salty broth, fresh rice noodles, with a mix of herbs, and chicken or beef. It is a main staple and sounds pretty good to me!
- Banh xeo – This is more like a crispy crepe that has pork, shrimp, bean sprouts, and garnished with herbs.
- Banh mi thit – A Vietnamese baguette stuffed with a variety of fillings including ham, cheese, bologna, etc.
- Che – This is a dessert that I am interested in trying. It is a pudding made from sticky rice and beans.
- Goi cuon – A Vietnamese “summer roll” filled with shrimp or pork, herbs, rolled up in rice paper, and served with peanut dipping sauce.
These are just a few of the dished that I found that sound interesting to me. While reading through some articles, I also found information on the way Vietnamese people eat. As in many countries in Asia, the Vietnamese people tend to eat “family style” (sharing dishes). Each person gets a plate or bowl with rice and shares the bowls of food set in the middle with everyone else.

Thanks for sharing! I am so excited to venture out of my comfort zone while we’re over there and try some new food. I am a little nervous, but looking forward to it!
