As soon as we get into Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) City, you will be surrounded by sea of motobike traffic, and I saw a lot of Western tourists are so desperate and confused how to cross the street with busy traffic. It seems walking across the road is a challenge in Saigon, but it is not that bad. Here are my common sense tips and video clip to show you how:
- Always walk on pedestrian crossing
- Like you drive across the intersection without traffic light. Slowly walk and observe.
- If you think you can occupy the space faster than incoming vehicles then step up, if not then wait. Do not move or run suddenly
- All incoming riders actually already see you and they will act by watching your action.

This video makes me so nervous just watching it! I hope we won’t have to cross to many busy streets like this one.

Do not worry Hannah! You have me as a local and there are a lot of volunteers assisting tourists crossing busy streets 😀

Thanks for sharing Bao! I talked to Lucas about crossing the street and he said just go for it. Everyone else will move around you. I was kind of nervous, but this video has calmed some nerves…surprisingly! I know I will probably be nervous when it comes time do it. But Im glad you shared a video so I can know what to expect.

This video is super beneficial. Thank you for sharing. I’m glad we have someone that can show us around and help us cross the street hahaha. This video makes me a little nervous, but now I know what to expect.
