After reading over the itinerary, I was interested in learned more about the Dambulla Cave Temple also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla. The Golden Temple of Dambulla is a sacred pilgrimage site. It is a cave monastery with five sanctuaries and is the largest, best-preserved cave-temple complex in Sri Lanka. The site has 157 statues and many Buddhist mural paintings. I looked at a few photos of the site and can honestly say, this is nothing what I thought it would be. I am excited to see what this temple looks like in person and to experience the culture of the site itself.
