Project ACCESS has a new training, Building Effective Teacher/Paraprofessional Teams, that is designed to assist staff working with students on the spectrum to become familiar with effective practices. Participants will learn how to work together for the benefit of the students. Accommodations and modifications will be defined and the responsibilities and duties for both paraprofessionals and the case managers will be identified. Tips for dealing with behavior issues will specifically be addressed. Examples of evidence-based practices will be reviewed and participants will be given the opportunity to gain clarification in a discussion period.
This one-day training is presented face-to-face and does not have a prerequisite. The target audience is special education teachers, regular education teachers, paraprofessionals and related service providers. The format is most effectively experienced when teams consisting of a teacher and a paraprofessional attend together. Hence, the registration fee covers a team of two, although each team member should register separately.
Registration for this training is currently available on My Learning Plan for the November 15th presentation in Rolla at the Havener Center and hosted by the South Central Regional Professional Development Center; please visit the following link to register: BTP Teams – Rolla
