As part of our continuing goal of providing high quality resources and services to Missouri educators, we extensively surveyed our In-District Autism Consultants (IDACs) and training participants about what they felt was needed to improve their services for teaching youngsters with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities. The response was huge! We heard you loud and clear!
As a result, we have been diligently working on a new model of training that is scheduled to be “rolled out” next fiscal year (the fiscal year begins on July 1, 2018). This new model of training is more rigorous and comprehensive than any we have offered to date. Survey results were clear in that more in-depth training, classroom coaching and hands-on, interactive, team-based learning was desired.
If you are seeking training that focuses on collaboration and consultation with your colleagues, then IDAC is for you. If, on the other hand, you are a classroom teacher desiring a deeper foundation of knowledge along with in classroom coaching, you might want to consider this new model – titled Project ACCESS School Autism Specialist – once it is available. Watch this blog and our social media platforms, as well as our online Community of Practice for more information.
Unfortunately, we had to cancel our traditional January IDAC training in Jefferson City due to lack of enrollment; so we have rescheduled it for June 18, 19 and 20, 2018 in Jefferson City. Please note: This will be the last IDAC training until further notice.
If you have completed the prerequisites for becoming an IDAC, we want you to have plenty of notice and time to get registered for this final IDAC training. This is not to say Project ACCESS will never have another training that focuses on collaboration and consultation with in-school colleagues; however, IDAC as it has been known in the past will no longer be available.
If you are already an IDAC, please rest assured we are not eliminating you or your achievement! We will continue to support you and offer you benefits as we always have!
