Among the multitude of interventions that are available to assist students who experience autism spectrum disorder (ASD), those that are scientifically validated and shown to be effective are called evidence-based practices (EBPs). The use of EBPs are an essential component of providing programming for students and the process of selecting EBPs involves identifying and defining behavior, collecting data and creating measurable goals/outcomes.
Missouri has created the Missouri Autism Guidelines Initiative (MAGI), which was the result of collaboration among Project ACCESS, the Department of Mental Health, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Thompson Center, in order to provide a guide to EBPs.
