We’ve posted a new Autism Minute, our brief (usually 5 minutes or less) instructional videos that provide information designed to add to your available resources for serving students with autism and other developmental disabilities.
This video features Edna Smith, Ph.D., a long-time Project ACCESS Missouri Autism Consultant, Autism Resource Specialist and Autism Coach, speaking on Integration of Functional Behavior Assessment with the Ziggurat Model (featured in last month’s Autism Minute):
Interventions based on Functional Behavior Assessment
*Antecedent Interventions: These are interventions that are designed to prevent problems by changing environmental factors that precede them.
*Interventions at the Point of Behavior: These are interventions that involve teaching a behavior that will replace the challenging behavior but will still have the same message.
*Consequential Interventions: These interventions change what follows and maintains a challenging behavior.
