Researchers at the University of Michigan followed 23 participants with Autism who received traditional school based transition services, along with 48 participants with Autism who received those same services and the Virtual Interview Training for Transition-Age Youth intervention. The study found that the group who received the additional web-based training demonstrated better job interview skills and lower interview anxiety. Even more suggestive of this programs success, the 42% of the virtual training group that went on to obtain employment within six months of completing the virtual training program.
We know that our students with Autism will spend the majority of their lives as an adult. It is on us to make sure we give them every benefit to achieve successful life outcomes!
