The Center for Autism and Related Disabilities at the University of South Florida (CARD-USF) is offering a live talk-show style podcast every Friday via a Facebook page titled “Grupo CARD Espanol”.
The program features specialists, educators, and health professionals analyzing and discussing issues related to autism. It typically runs 30 to 60 minutes.
“La Hora del Cafecito” is designed to help overcome some of the challenges—cultural barriers, limited English proficiency, socioeconomic status, and stigma—that may prevent Latino parents from finding resources and professional help for their children, program organizers say. They hope to provide families information about how to address autism in their children, their homes, and their lives, without fear or shame.
The 50-plus archived programs deal with a wide range of topics: diagnostic assessments, early-intervention programs, visiting the dentist, vocational rehabilitation, hygiene, diet and nutrition, supportive therapies (physical, occupational, and speech-language), local Florida resources, and other topics.
Episodes are archived on the CARD-USF YouTube channel.
