This two-day training willl be held on the campus of Missouri State University on October 19th and October 20th, 2023. Training will be in the Plaster Student Union Theater on the second floor (click the link for driving directions). You can request parking permits by emailing Project ACCESS at projectaccess@missouristate.edu. The training will begin at 8:30 and end at 3:00 each day. Lunch will be on your own (there is a convenient food court located steps away from the training room).
Project ACCESS has 20 scholarships available on a first-come, first-served basis, so you will want to apply soon. You have to register separately for the training at The Center for AAC & Autism since they require you to have an account in their system in order to register (links below). Project ACCESS CANNOT register you directly for the training. If you need the scholarship funding in order to attend, you will want to apply to Project ACCESS for the scholarship, wait one to two days to hear from us with confirmation, and then register at the Center for AAC & Autism using the coupon codes we send you. Links to the scholarship application and to LAMP training registration are below.
You will have to register separately for each day. Scholarships cover only the cost of registration; travel expenses are each attendees responsibility.
Part 1: Foundations of the Therapeutic Approach:
This course will cover the components of LAMP: readiness to learn, engaging the learner through joint engagement, and learning language through a unique and consistent motor plan paired with an auditory signal and a natural consequence. Discussion will include how this approach addresses the core language deficits of autism, device features that are beneficial to teaching language, and how to use those features to implement LAMP components. Videos will be used to illustrate the treatment components.

Part 2: Hands-On Learning with iPads and Devices
This hands-on course is designed to further the communication partner’s ability to implement the Language Acquisition through Motor Planning approach at different language stages and across environments. The language structure of the LAMP Words for Life language system and use of device features to support language learning will be explored. The presenter will cover a variety of strategies and supports to support language development such as expanding vocabulary in natural environments, modeling, teaching the motor plan, and how to use aided language input. Videotaped sessions will be used for group discussion about strategies that work and common mistakes. Previous attendance at a Language Acquistion through Motor Planning course is required.

Browse to the registration page, then find the Springfield, MO offering, and follow the link to register for that location. You will need to register for both days separately. If Project ACCESS awards you a scholarship, you will need to submit a copy of your completion certificate to our office. If you receive an scholarship and are unable to use it, it will be your responsibility find an alternative educator to use it. If a scholarship recipient fails to use the scholarshop and a seat goes unused, Project ACCESS will bill the district for it.
