Agriculture Future of America (AFA) selected four Darr College of Agriculture students to attend the various educational and networking experiences hosted by the AFA throughout 2020. The scheduled events include National Ag Day, the Policy Institute and the Crop Science Institute.
Attendees are selected from around the country based on their applications. All applicants are undergraduate level, have a high academic standard and have a passion for pursuing a career in agriculture. The selection process is highly competitive, and it is an honor to be chosen as an attendee for any AFA event.
The Policy Institute will be held September 13-15 in Washington, D.C. The National Ag Day is a portion of this institute. Ag Day is a program for freshman and sophomore students. Forty outstanding individuals are invited for this portion of the institute to connect with legislative leaders and network with peers who share a passion for the agricultural industry.
The Policy Institute allows 40 students to meet legislative representatives and learn more about the policy process in agriculture. Students in attendance will be Thomas Claas (National Ag Day), and Kendra Betz (Policy Institute).
The Crop Science Institute will be held July 19-21 in Raleigh, North Carolina. During this time, 75 college students will experience a three-day program involving interaction with crop science sectors, discussing and training to prepare for careers in the industry, and introductions to area businesses and providers. Students in attendance will be Terryn Hutchings and Theodore Rieckhoff.
The Darr College of Agriculture is enormously proud of these students and cannot wait to see the success they achieve during their time at Missouri State and beyond! For those interested in applying for future AFA events, you can find more information here.
