Sigma Alpha is a national professional sorority that promotes scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship amongst its members. The sorority is founded upon members who have a profound appreciation for the agricultural industry.
The Missouri State University, Sigma Alpha – Alpha Xi chapter, was founded on April 29th, 2000 and is led by the chapter president, Katie Walker, a senior studying Wildlife Conservation and Management. After nearly 22 years, the sorority has found a multitude of sisters who have helped grow and shape the organization into what it is today.
On November 8th, 2021, the Alpha Xi chapter activated five new members into its sisterhood. After completing a six-week process, these members have gained the official role of being activated members within the chapter.
The five members who were activated are Katelyn Austin, Montanna Forcum, Payden Nolting, Kelsey West, and Kinzie Wheatley.
Grace Box, a senior studying Socio-Political Communications with a minor in General Agriculture, served as the Membership Candidate Mom who helped the five members learn about the concepts and history of the sorority through the six-week process. When asked about her favorite part during her term in this position, she responded, “My favorite part of this position is to be the one to help the girls transition into the sorority and be able to be there for them through the six weeks”.
