The annual Missouri Blueberry School at Missouri State University’s Darr Agricultural Center in Springfield is coming up Feb. 21-22.
It is an “event for anyone interested in growing blueberries or those who currently grow them and want to expand their knowledge,” said Jennifer Morganthaler, clinical instructor in the School of Agriculture Sciences and Conservation at Missouri State. “Growers can network with each other, university experts and vendors during the sessions.”
This program will teach about all aspects of commercial blueberry production, including irrigation, how to start a new operation, soil health and management, pruning and much more. Experts from Missouri State, University of Missouri Extension, Lincoln University Cooperative Extension and the University of Arkansas Extension will lead the sessions.
The second day of the program will feature tours to two local blueberry farms: Hoof and Harvest Farms and the Persimmon Hill Farm.
The cost, including lunch, is $50 per person ($25 for additional family or farm member) and $25 per student. For more information, contact Kelly McGowan at Mcgowank@missouri.edu or call 417-874-2955.
