The Springfield Regional Arts Council announces that the Higher Learning Invitational Exhibition at The Sky Gallery at Springfield-Branson National Airport will be on display March 22-May 14, 2012. The public is invited to a reception from 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 12.One teacher from each higher learning institution was
invited to exhibit their work alongside selected students. Ozarks Technical Community College (OTC) professor Kat Allie shows her encaustic paintings with students Shawna Miller and Kayla Campbell, showing acrylic paintings and drawings.
Drury University painting professor Todd Lowery shows his paintings on paper with students Sari Higgins, Sarah Jones, and Kirsten Sharp, all showing acrylic paintings.
Missouri State University art professor Sharon Harper shows her mixed media paintings along with sculptures from Katie Piatt and paintings by Ashley L. Byers and Carl Glasemeyer.
Over 45 works in acrylic, ink, charcoal, mixed media, wire, and fabric were selected for the exhibition. All work will be available for purchase. A portion of all sales will benefit the non-profit Springfield Regional Arts Council. Images of the show can be found at flyspringfield.com/art.
The gallery, located in the lobby of the airport terminal, is open 24 hours a day. Visitors can park free in the short-term lot for 30 minutes.
The Sky Gallery is a network of display areas within the reception area of the airport.
