As a part of the new University Health and Wellness Center opening this week on campus is a new exhibit space: Taylor Gallery. Dr. Dave Muegge, Director of Taylor Health and Wellness, invited the Art + Design Department to exhibit student work that will change periodically throughout the year. Taking advantage of the natural light and windows at the end of each corridor on the second floor, are museum-quality pedestals for display and protection of the art work. The building was consciously designed to integrate artwork into the environment to offset the effects of stress typically experienced by patients and help promote healing.
For this exhibit, the Department chose to highlight its new 3D Studies curriculum area. 3D Studies combines Sculpture, Small Metal/Jewelry, and Ceramics to better instill inherent connections between the three dimensional disciplines at the same time exploring the differences in materials and their variations.
Students exhibiting work include: William Finch and Mackenzie Elliot, Ceramics; Annie Campbell, Morgan Davis, Christiana Falley, Kathryn Garbee, Myles Gildard, Jared Hurst, Kristina Khodai, Linda Philipian, Libby Rule, Kersten Schatz, Johanna Typaldos, Metal/Jewelry; Sarah Stracke, Amber White, Sculpture.
Faculty involved in mounting the exhibit: Deidre Argyle, Keith Ekstam, Kevin Hughes, and Jina Seo.
This inaugural exhibit is on display until a date yet to be determined in May.
