Congratulations to Ainura Ashirova, a MFA graduate student studying Visual Studies here at Missouri State University, for her works selected for “Pink Pearl”, a juried exhibition in St. Louis.
Pomegranates-fruits of passion. 2018. Lithograph on Paper, 18″x22″. $650.
“Pink Pearl” is a multi-media visual art exhibition featuring 47 artworks that focus on both drawing and erasing. The title “Pink Pearl” refers to the brand of popular erasers often used in drawing classes. Drawing is the foundation of all art making and of course erasing what has been drawn often comes in to play in the process, too. This exhibit examines both the additive and subtractive part of creating art which forms a conceptual feature of the art making process regardless of the media.
This juried exhibit was open to regional artists from the St. Louis and surrounding areas where 258 artworks were submitted by 108 regional artists for consideration. Only 47 artworks by 34 artists from Missouri and Illinois were chosen for the final exhibition. This exhibit includes artworks in a variety of media, including ceramics, collage, drawing, fiber, metal, mixed media, painting, paper, photography, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, wood, and more.
