Visiting Artist Talk: Rachel Youn

November 1, 2021 by Taylor Ladd

The Missouri State Art + Design Department welcomes Rachel Youn for a visiting artist talk. Rachel, whose work is featured in the Brick City Gallery exhibition, Hothouse, speaks on November 9 at 2 PM in Brick City Building 1, room 312. This talk centers around Rachel’s artistic practice, including the making and evolution of Hothouse.

Rachel is a St. Louis-based artist working primarily with sculpture and found objects. These mediums act as means to express the associations made between specific objects and ideas of culture, society, and hierarchy. Rachel received their BFA from Washington University in St. Louis and has since had their work featured in galleries nationwide, including the Contemporary Art Museum, St. Louis, MO; Open House, Kansas City, MO; Here/There, Portland, OR; and Tiger Strikes Asteroid, Los Angeles, CA.
