Summer Update: Missouri’s Teacher Development System
It’s time to celebrate! From setting up their classrooms to leading district-wide initiatives, Teacher Develop System participants saw so much growth this year!
We completed our second year of Beginning Teacher Assistance & Paired Learning with new teachers from nine districts receiving on-going, year-long support in their first year! It was so exciting to see relationships develop across districts, which will surely continue to strengthen both new and mentor teachers into the future.
Teacher Academy candidates learned about student engagement from John Antonetti and skillfully implemented classroom projects resulting in amazing student learning outcome growth! Congratulations to this year’s Teacher Academy Graduates: Timothy Broderick, Hollister – Increasing rigor through student engagement; Nicole Eiseness, Avilla – Critical Thinking with Choice & Novelty; Thomas Jemes, Spokane; Daniel Kelsay, Joel E. Barber ; and Toni Reid, Joel E. Barber.

In addition to the amazing growth seen in beginning teachers and mid-level career teachers, the Teacher Leader Cohort saw tremendous expansion in their learning this year as they took on building & district level projects resulting in amazing outcomes for their whole community! Sandy Humbyrd from Hollister started an Educator’s Rising Chapter, Shannon Waldo from Billings worked to redesign their district mentoring program; Mia Datema from Billings implemented a cultural fair to increase cultural awareness. By partnering with other teachers, a STEAM event was started and was an amazing community-wide showcase; Jenny Holman from Hollister created a technology program allowing students to teach their teachers about technology; and Rhonda Rittenhouse from Hollister worked on developing collaborative teacher teams, resulting in strong supports for new and experienced teachers.
I can’t wait to see the amazing things that will happen next year! Don’t miss out on these incredible teacher opportunities. Check out all of the programs at bit.do/swmoteacher. Thank you for a great year! Have a fun-filled, relaxing summer, and we will see you next year!
