Four of Missouri’s Regional Special Education Compliance Consultants presented at the 2024 National Council for Exceptional Children Conference in San Antonio, Texas on March 14, 2024. Leasa Day – South Central RPDC/Rolla SN&T; Tiffiney Smith – SE RPDC/Cape Girardeau; Jeanne Rothermel – St. Louis RPDC/Ed Plus; and Amy Phipps, SW RPDC/ATLL at MSU have been leading the statewide effort to expand the Educational Benefit Review work across the state. There were in excess of 220 in attendance at this presentation from all across the US and it was one of the most highly attended breakout sessions.
Facilitating Educational Benefit Reviews across the state has been rewarding work as we witness educators making sense of special education compliance and what it means to really program for students with disabilities to ensure they have educational benefit and make progress toward their goals.
The SW region is leading the way in the number of districts who have had EBR training over the last year and we have many more scheduled for upcoming months and next school year. If you want to talk about EBR training, contact Amy via email at: amyphipps@missouristate.edu
