College Choice recognized Missouri State University’s gerontology degree program as number nine on a list of the 15 best gerontology bachelor’s degree programs.

Missouri State’s program stood out because of the option to earn a dual major in gerontology and psychology, or gerontology and sociology. It also offers quality course work in areas, such as:
- Mental health and aging
- Identity and aging in literature and film
- Gender and sexuality in later life
How the ranking is determined
College Choice looked at schools across the country that offer a bachelor’s degree in gerontology to compile the top 15 list. The criteria for this ranking included:
- Quality of the academic program
- Affordability and return on investment
- Student happiness based on retention and graduation rates
