They met at Homecoming in 2011.
He was in Theta Chi.
She ran with Alpha Chi Omega.
It wasn’t how loud she cheered at ‘Yell Like Hell’ or how well she roller skated at the skating rink. Kory Lower fell in love with a girl in a Tune Squad jersey.
“It was right before Halloween, so my sorority sisters and I decided to wear our Halloween costumes. My choice was a Tune Squad jersey (shout out to Space Jam circa 1996). I walked in and Kory appeared in the doorway and complimented me on my jersey. Later that night, he asked my friend about me and she told him to go for me. Thanks, Gianna!” Stephanie Muschall said about meeting her fiance.

An extra sweet first date
After meeting at the roller rink, in true 90s fashion, Kory asked Stephanie to go get some ice-cream at Andy’s Frozen Custard.
“My grandma and my mom were actually in town that weekend for Alpha Chi Mom’s Weekend, so it was a short but, sweet date (literally)!”
Of course, having had their first date at Andy’s they had to snag a few photos for their engagement.
“You can propose anywhere!”
Stephanie says Kory had a plan when he invited her to take a fountain tour in Kansas City. Despite having lived there his whole life.
“I have a special love for fountains, so I immediately agreed. He eventually said the real reason he wanted to go was because he needed to ‘scope out places to propose next year.'” She says she should have known what he was up to. But, she thought it wouldn’t happen until 2018.
On September 30, 2017, they made their way to the Country Club Plaza in KC, where there are dozens of fountains. Stephanie thought for sure he was up to something.
“Okay well now is it going to be painfully obvious when you do propose since we’re doing this?” He rebuked her statement and they carried on.
After lunch, the pair made their way to the famous JC Nichols Memorial Fountain. Again, he asked, ‘would this be a good place to propose?’
“Again I said, ‘Yes, Kory. But I told you-you can propose anywhere!’ He then said, ‘Okay, well in that case…’ and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.”
Kory’s brother convinced a random visitor from Minnesota with a nice camera to take the picture.
Falling in love with Missouri State
They both were very active on campus. Kory was a SOAR leader. Stephanie was an Emerging Leader, the MSU Publicity Chair on the 2010 Homecoming committee, and a College of Business student ambassador.
Stephanie says growing up in Omaha and coming to MSU she didn’t know anyone, but she discovered a new home.
“Kory and I had the best college experience at Missouri State and we often say we wish we could go back! The transformation on campus from when we started at MSU to now is nothing short of amazing. We are forever proud to be Bears!”
Now, the two are getting married this summer.
“Who would have thought a Tune Squad jersey and killer dance moves would lead us here? Here’s to a lifetime full of laughter and cheering on our favorite sports teams. I am so lucky I get to love you every day for the rest of my life. I can’t wait to be your wife!” – love Stephanie.
