Celebrate LGBTQ+ history in October

Attend pride events at Missouri State University.

Missouri State University highlights cultural competence as a pillar of its public affairs mission.

The goal of cultural competence is for students to recognize and respect multiple perspectives and cultures.

This October, MSU will host events on campus and in the Springfield area to recognize the LGBTQ+ community during LGBTQ+ History Month.

Highlighted events

Oct. 3

Mariela Castro: Cuba’s LGBTQ revolution, 4:30 p.m., Multicultural Resource Center (MRC) annex.

Oct. 8

Residence Hall Association presents: Good Queen Fun, 6 p.m., Plaster Student Union Ballroom West.

This annual drag show features students and performers from around the Springfield area. Seating available on a first come, first served basis.

Oct. 16

LGBTQ Pride Keynote: Dominique Jackson, 6 p.m., Plaster Student Union Theater.

Oct. 18

“Nanette” Screening, 7 p.m., GLO Center.

“Nanette” is a stand-up comedy special from Hannah Gadsby.

Oct. 21

Unashamed Tour: An evening with Amber Cantorna, 7:30 p.m., Davis-Harrington Welcome Center.

Oct. 30

Exploring an Intersection: LGBTQ+ identity and the autism spectrum, 12:30 p.m., MRC annex.
