This week’s blog is about a great resource for students, parents, and educators interested in post-secondary inclusive programs: ThinkCollege.net. According to their website, Think College describes their organization as, “A national organization dedicated to developing, expanding, and improving inclusive higher education options for people with intellectual disability. With a commitment to equity and excellence, Think College supports evidence-based and student-centered research and practice by generating and sharing knowledge, guiding institutional change, informing public policy, and engaging with students, professionals, and families.”
As a resource, Think College provides hundreds of articles and printouts related to inclusion, college programming, and transition planning. They also provide access to a database of the summits they host. These are invaluable sources for parents, educators, and clinicians, and for those planning and developing an inclusive college program, such as Bear POWER.
Excitingly, this week Bear POWER has been added to Think College’s interactive college search map. There are currently 266 programs across the country, and four with MSU now included in the programs available in the state of Missouri! We look forward to students and families having the opportunity to learn about Bear POWER from a national organization focused on inclusive college experiences, and are eager to share resources as we find them. We think it is time well spent to peruse the articles and summits offered on Think College, but also feel free to reach out about accessing resources; we are happy to provide information!
