MIPSA
The Midwest Inclusive Postsecondary Alliance (MIPSA) is a regional alliance that includes inclusive programs from surrounding states in the Midwest. Bear POWER and Missouri State helped found this alliance by co-hosting a summit last summer in Kansas City with the UMKC Propel Program. The summit was attended by programs in surrounding states such as Arkansas, and Kansas, as well as all the existing programs in Missouri.
The purpose of the summit was to collaborate with inclusive post-secondary programs in our region to share best practices, program requirements and certification standards, successes, concerns, plans for expansion, funding and opportunities to collaborate moving forward.
Upcoming Events
MIPSA meets every six months. The next meeting will be on April 20, 2018 and will be hosted at University of Missouri-St. Louis, by the SUCCEED Program. We will be doing a deep-dive into residence life within inclusive post secondary education.
The Missouri State University Bear POWER staff and advisory board members will be attending this meeting, and will be collaborating with leaders from surrounding inclusive post-secondary programs as we wrap-up the admissions process for our first cohort of students. We look forward to learning from and growing alongside established programs, while playing a role in regional leadership and advocacy.
MIPSA’s Mission
The Midwest Post Secondary Inclusive Alliance promotes access to quality inclusive postsecondary education for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Midwest through a shared focus on collaboration through program development, research, and public policy.
