With the end of the semester comes finals week. The week where every study room and table are taken in the library, and everywhere you look you see students consuming caffeine to stay awake. It’s a time where students are trying to finish projects, study for tests, and maintain their GPAs. It’s a hard time for college students, but there are ways that families can help (and no I don’t mean taking your student’s finals for them).
- Words of Encouragement
A simple “good luck” text will make their day! Or even a card with a gift card so they can stock up on some study snacks/drinks. Care packages are also great ways to support your students. They don’t have to be elaborate, but a finals week survival kit would be a good surprise. Finals can be pretty defeating, and your student will appreciate some kind words that help them get through the long week and into summer.
- FOOD
College students are always balling on a budget, and finals week is no exception. It’s hard for students to study on empty stomachs, so sending them food is a great way to support them through finals week. I’ve seen students receive pizza while they’re studying in the library! My personal favorite is Insomnia Cookies because they deliver hot, fresh cookies until 3am. They’re perfect for a late-night pick-me-up!
- End of Finals Week Celebration
Congratulate your student on a semester well done by planning a fun night/day with them once they come home! Whether it’s taking them to their favorite restaurant, or taking a day trip to a fun spot, your student will be able to relax and have fun after a busy semester. My family usually lets me pick where we go to dinner, and then we hang out together for a bit watching baseball games.
Finals week can get the best of everyone, but it’s important to stay motivated! Some tips to share with your student are: stay hydrated, stay positive, do your best, take study breaks, and keep going! It can be hard and stressful, but the end result is well worth it. I know this post was a lot shorter than my other ones, but I have to study for finals too.
HAPPY FINALS WEEK!!!
