Finals week is sneaking up on us at Missouri State, and that means it’s almost time for my favorite part of the year, winter break. Winter break is my favorite time of year because it gives me a chance to catch up with friends from back home that I don’t get to see all the time. My family and I always try to plan some sort of big night out that we spend together since we don’t get to do that as often now. I also like to go visit old high school teachers to keep them updated on what is going on in my life. They were some of my biggest motivators in my life, and I enjoy getting to see them again.
While every family member is excited for their student to come home for a month, do not have their entire winter break planned out for them. This is a time where they want to relax and take a break from all of the stress of school, and they should be granted that time. Let them make their own plans for hanging out with friends or whatever they choose to do. Talk to them and try and make at least one family hangout with them. It is important for us as students to have quality time with our family since we don’t get to see you guys all the time like we used to. Planning a dinner, movie, or even a trip to the mall for some holiday shopping would be great ideas for spending time together.
I can’t wait for break to start, and I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday!
