Spring semester is upon us, and it feels great to be back on campus at Missouri State. One of the many challenges that students face during this time of year is finding the determination to leave their warm bed and brave the cold to get to their classes. I know for me it is a struggle. A few things I like to do to counteract this include waking up at least an hour before my class starts and layering up for the cold.
Waking up an hour early gives me plenty of time to get ready for the day and walk to my class. I’ll stay in bed for about 20 minutes and go through my phone to see if there is anything important I need to do that day. I also check my Missouri State email to see if any information about my classes has been sent before heading out.
Before I leave for class I make sure I check the weather to see what the temperature is. It’s always good to know how many layers you’ll need for the day. My mom always said “you can’t put on what you don’t have”. Having an extra layer just in case it stays cold always helps out.
For my commuter pals, make sure that your car is ready to go when you are. If you’re running late and your car is covered in ice, you’re probably not going to make it on time. Waking up early to make sure nothing needs to be done to your car will help you get to class on time. I encourage everyone to buy a windshield protector. This will prevent ice from forming on your windshield and save you a lot of time in the morning.
I hope everyone is ready to get back into the swing of things at Missouri State, this is going to be a great semester!
