The 2019 World Autism Awareness Day takes place Tuesday, April 2nd. The United Nations observes World Autism Awareness Day as a global commitment to inclusion and ensuring everyone with autism can exercise their full rights and freedoms. Each year the UN looks at a central theme, and this year, the UN is looking at “Assistive Technologies, Active Participation.” The theme not only looks at new technology that can assist those with autism, but also the issues related to access to these technologies that can eliminate barriers. Advocates encourage the observation of World Autism Awareness Day by wearing blue, donating to Autism advocacy groups, or simply taking time to expand your awareness and knowledge on autism.
