The Career Center provides comprehensive services to assist students throughout their college career and beyond. It doesn’t matter if your student a) has no idea what they want to do; b) knows what they want to major in, but doesn’t know what they can do with that major; or c) knows exactly what they want to do and needs help ensuring they are a successful applicant, we can help. Our dedicated team of Career Resources Specialists (CRS) teach IDS 120, a career exploration class, and meet one on one with students to help them navigate the career development process.
Increasing Self-Knowledge. By taking assessments such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Strong Interest Inventory, and Kuder Journey and meeting one on one with a CRS, students become more aware of how to use their values, interests, skills, and natural abilities to choose a career path. (These assessments are provided at no extra cost to MSU students).
Career Exploration. The Career Center provides online and campus resources and events to assist students in learning about careers. We also teach students how to network with alumni and employers to request and conduct informational interviews and job shadow opportunities.
Creating a Career Plan. Self and career exploration are meaningless without making decisions and an action plan. Our staff use decision-making techniques to help students identify a career goal and create an action plan.
