We are so excited to be back together on campus after a particularly challenging year. Although programs were held to welcome students last year, many were modified to fit the ever-changing environment due to Covid-19. Although we still face the pandemic, we learned how to manage the best traditional events at Missouri State and will be doing so in the next few weeks.
Attending Welcome Weekend events is not a requirement at Missouri State, however, I strongly encourage you to talk with you student about the value of these events even if they are coming back for their second year. First and foremost, we need students to feel a sense of belonging at Missouri State. Knowing and having at least one person to connect with makes all the difference in the world.
Secondly, students who get involved have better chances of succeeding in college. Building a strong unit of support aside from family is invaluable to student growth, development, and learning.
Lastly, the goal for all Missouri State students is to persist to graduation and obtain a job after. It’s never too early for students to start learning skills both in and outside the classroom that will help them land that perfect internship or job. It’s never too early to start building that network!
Please take some time to review the schedule and allow time during move in for your students to attend these special and unique events for our new Bears.
