A Chat with Chase – On-Campus Employment

February 5, 2023 by Priscilla Childress

Are you searching for a job this semester to help pay for tuition or to just have a little extra money on hand? On campus employment is a great way to earn money while still keeping school as your priority. If you are interested in applying for on campus jobs or want to see current open positions you can find them here: Student Employment Job Opportunities

There are so many benefits to working on campus, the biggest benefit being its convenience. Working on campus comes with a very flexible schedule meaning that you can customize your work schedule around your school schedule. Your employer on campus understands that you are a student and school is your priority so you will never be expected to or asked to miss class to come to work.

Another amazing benefit of working on campus is the location.  If you work on campus, you can easily walk to work from the residence halls, work between classes and avoid leaving campus.

There are so many different jobs that you can apply for on campus including a front desk worker in a residence hall or a tutor at the K-12 school on campus. You can find jobs that align with your major, or that seem fun/interesting to you.

On campus jobs follow minimum wage requirements set in place by the state of Missouri, some positions earning more. No matter your interests there is a department on campus that will suit your needs and will feel like home to you. There are always jobs open so no matter the time of year you will always be able to find a position.

Having experience working both on and off campus I would highly suggest working on campus. While there are some benefits of working off campus like meeting people outside of the university, working on campus offers so many more benefits.

Working on campus allows you to gain leadership experience within the department you are working for as well as making connections with staff members and professors that could last well past college. If you do decide that working off campus will work best for you then I would suggest finding an employer the appreciates the time and commitment it takes being a college student and is willing to work with your school schedule.

And as a reminder no matter where you decide to work be sure to allot plenty of time to study and complete your homework.
