In your time at college here in Springfield, what have you done off campus to get involved in the Springfield community? Have you gone to study and get a coffee downtown or have you gone to see a new movie that was out in theaters? If not, don’t worry, you still have lots of time to experience all the fun things that Springfield has to offer.

One of my favorite things about college has been trying out new and different things in Springfield. One of the things that the university really pushes for is student involvement on campus which is so important because it can lead to a better college experience.
It can also be really fun to get involved in the Springfield community and go try new things as well. Like our organizations on campus, there are so many things the Springfield community has to offer that you can try and there is bound to be something to strike your interest.
If working out is something you enjoy or is something you want to get into, there are many CrossFit gyms and yoga studios all over Springfield. One thing off campus that I have come to enjoy is going to spin classes. A great perk of living in a town with multiple college campuses is a lot of gyms and studios around Springfield offer student discounts, so this is great if you’re on a budget but looking for something new to try.
If you love nature or just being outside, there are so many parks in Springfield. Some of them are just down the road from campus. So, if you are looking for a new great study spot, or just a place to go for a walk, there are so many beautiful parks in Springfield to enjoy.
If you love to go antiquing or thrifting, there are tons of cute little shops with great hidden gems, or big stores where you can find tons of great deals. My favorite antique shop that I have found is Freakin’ Antiquin’ Vintage Market.
If you love a good farmers market there is one in the Battlefield Mall parking lot every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday morning. They have vendors selling home-grown fruits and vegetables, as well as so many baked goods.
These are just a few ideas to help give you some inspiration for ways that you can get involved in the Springfield community. You don’t have to spend tons of time or money to go enjoy some of the fun things Springfield has to offer. Don’t miss the opportunity to get out and get involved.
