The Karl’s Hall Greenhouse is conveniently located on the roof of Karl’s Hall. The facility has three bays with temperature control that are used to grow various plant species throughout the year. The environmental plant science department uses the greenhouse as a hands-on classroom and research facility. Currently, hydroponics research is being conducted inside the greenhouse.
The MSU Horticulture Club hosts an annual spring plant sale in the greenhouse to raise funds for equipment and supplies.
Every spring my grandma always plants tons of gerbera daisies all around her house and every spring when I was younger, I would love getting to help her. Ever since then I have had a love for filling my room with all sorts of different house plants.
Last spring my roommate and I went to the annual plant sale at Karl’s Greenhouse to grab a few more plants for our residence hall room, and I was surprised to see that they had such a stunning variety of plants. They had beautiful Spider Plants and Wondering Jews, and varieties of plants I had never even heard of before.
I would highly suggest stopping by the annual plant sale this spring to check out all the cool plants they grow. Also, look into joining the Horticulture Club and get the opportunity to work with the plants in the Karls Greenhouse.
