Eligibility
The Missouri guidelines indicate a student is considered as having a visual impairment and eligible for specialist education services when these criteria are met::
An eye report from an optometrist or ophthalmologist indicating the student has a progressive visual condition or a visual impairment with
- an acuity of 20/70 or less in the better eye after best correction OR
- a field restriction of 20 degree or less, AND Include documentation that demonstrates how the impairment negatively impacts on education. (see the section on student referral for further information)
