This week, Katherine Nordyke, Director of the Office of Citizenship and Service-Learning, will be presenting at the 12th annual conference of the International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement (IARSLCE) in Baltimore, MD. She will be presenting with MSU graduate Amy Cormack on the topic iLEAD: Creating a Comprehensive Transfer-Year Experience Program with a Focus on Civic Leadership, Engagement, and Democracy.
The IARSLCE annual research conference attracts scholars, practitioners, students, and community partners interested in research on service-learning, community-based research, campus-community partnerships, and civic learning outcomes in P-20 education. Attendees include faculty, administrators, and scholar-practitioners in higher education, as well as community partners, K-12 educators, and professionals and leaders in educational policy and community development.
The theme for this conference is the generative power of connections and relationships on service-learning and community engagement. The conference seeks to break new ground by focusing its attention on transformative learning partnerships in the area of community engagement, as well on the kinds of connections those learning partnerships leverage and facilitate.
