Dr. Keiichi Yoshimatsu, assistant professor of chemistry, attended the workshop on Physical Science Course-based Undergraduate Research Experience (Physical Science CURE institute) this year in Tucson, Arizona.

The Physical Science CURE institute was facilitated by researchers who are leading the CURE Network 2 (CUREnet2) project. The project is supported by National Science Foundation grants.

About the workshop

Yoshimatsu spent three days learning tips and tricks to better incorporate research components in undergraduate programs.

“This accommodates a greater number of undergraduate students to participate in research,” Yoshimatsu said. “I hope to bring CURE components into some of the laboratory courses that I teach.”

Yoshimatsu also developed a preliminary course plan. He also got feedback from other professors.

“It was great experience for me to work together with faculty members from many institutions,” Yoshimatsu said. “The discussions we had in the workshop gave me many good ideas and inspiration.”
