Gov. Jay Nixon and members of the Missouri Coordinating Board for Higher Education will recognize Dr. Romano and others for their achievements.
The Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching is presented to an outstanding faculty member from each participating higher education institution in the state. The awards, which are not monetary, are based on effective teaching, effective advising, service to the university community, commitment to high standards of excellence and success in nurturing student achievement. David Romano is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Missouri State University where he teaches courses on the Middle East and international relations, among others. His research and professional interests include nationalism, social movements, violent conflicts, the Middle-East (especially the Kurds, Turkey and Iraq) and terrorism.
