The First GIRS Anthropology Scholarship was awarded to Glenna J. Dement at Missouri State University on September 28, 2017. Glenna is a senior at Missouri State University in the Department of Sociology-Anthropology with an emphasis on archaeology. She has completed two archaeological field schools in Missouri and New Mexico. Over the past two years she has also worked in Cultural Resource Management (CRM) related projects as a field technician, at the Missouri State University Bernice S. Warren Center for Archaeological Research and at the Greene County, Missouri, History Museum. She is a member of Phi Eta Sigma National Collegiate Honor Society and the Missouri Archaeological Society. In the spirit of bringing professional and avocational archaeologists together, the MSU-GIRS Scholarship contains a service component in which Glenna will be presenting on her research at the local Ozarks Chapter and at the State Conference of the Missouri Archaeological Society. After graduating next May, Glenna plans to enter the Graduate Certificate Program in CRM with an archaeology focus at Missouri State University. On behalf of Missouri State University, we offer our gratitude to the GIRS for this educational opportunity. Thank you.
