From March 18th to March 20th, Dr. Kyler Sherman-Wilkins, Assistant Professor of Sociology at Missouri State University, traveled to D.C. to join a small team of population scientists representing the Population Association of America in advocating for Congress’ continued funding and support of federal statistical and scientific agencies. During his meetings with the staffers of Congressman Billy Long, Senator Roy Blunt, and Senator Claire McCaskill, he discussed his research and detailed how he uses federally funded data to instruct undergrads. He also detailed the importance of the Census Bureau and provided recommendations on how to ensure a fair and accurate Census in 2020.
