The following statement was created by the CHPA Diversity Committee and endorsed by Dean Victor Matthews:
The members of Missouri State University College of Humanities and Public Affairs’ Diversity Council would like to say first and foremost to our Black and Brown students, faculty, and staff that we see you. For too long, many members of our university community have turned a blind eye to the real systemic and structural racism that has made it challenging to thrive as a person of color at a predominantly white institution. While we know that these problems cannot be fixed overnight, we want you to know CHPA’s Diversity Council will work diligently with college and university leadership to better advocate for anti-racism, both in our university community and beyond.
